What is the best ground cover for a dog kennel?

I have a two month old black lab who eats everything! Right now the ground cover in her kennel is pea gravel, but I am afraid she might eat some of it. Has anyone used river rock? Any other suggestions are appreciated!

eight week old puppy – the ground cover should be your living quarter’s flooring…

A puppy shouldn’t be living outside neither should a dog, not a good way to socialize your pet, it a shame he’s not a member of the family and he’ll never know what it’s like to have a real home and would you like to sleep on a surface like that, at least get the poor pup straw and put enough down that he will be comfortable, and clean it when it needs it at least every other week
