Midwest Black E-Coat Exercise Pen with Ground Stakes, 24″W x 23″H

This is way to small and not strong enought for a dog that is very big, you would need at least 2 for a dog to run around in and if you are going to spend that kind of money you can get the big runs instead. The picture is aleast two not one.

I have purchased 2 of these (30″ height). I first purchased one when I first adopted my dog to create a safe area for him to play. I love the fact that the pen can be bent in a million different directions to accommodate the area, as well as being able to bend the panels in such a way to make the area even smaller. I also love the fact that the pen can easily be attached to the Midwest Crate. As my dog has gotten bigger (and smarter), I had to find a way to keep my dog out of the kitchen. Due to the design of the kitchen, it would have been awkward to try and set up baby gates to keep out the counter surfer. I was looking at the prices of baby gates, and a single gate far surpassed the cost of one of these exercise pens. We use the second pen to contain my dog in or out of certain rooms. This pen has saved us the hassle of constantly worrying about where my dog is and what trouble he is getting into.
I have not yet used the ground stakes. The second pen I purchased did not come with the ground stakes. I was so busy that I kept forgetting to contact Amazon regarding it–and since I don’t foresee myself needing/using them, I gave up on contacting them.
I do wish that the pen came with extra clips to close the pen with, especially since I don’t connect the two ends together when I attach the pen to the crate.
I do not like that the price varies tremendously on the pen’s height. I would love to purchase the a taller version, but considering that price of the 30″ is about $30 less than the 36″, I will have to pass and hope that my dog doesn’t learn to jump it.
Oh! If you have a jumpy dog who gets excited to see you when you come to let him out of the pen, be sure to close the gate at the very top rung. My dog gets very excited when I come to let him out of the pen and used to jump at the side of the pen (where both paws would sit on top of a panel). I made the mistake one night and used the clip on the 2nd to the top rung. When I went to let him out, one of “finger segments” got wedged in between the two panels that were connected via the clips. He was screaming in pain until I was finally able to release the clips. Let’s say, that was a lesson learned for him. He has not jumped on the side of the pen since.

I have used Mid West products for years, I found a great sale on these ex-pens @ Amazon and bought 4, I put 2 together and make a 4×8 area for my puppies to play, they work great inside or out, so easy to fold up and carry outside. Amazon came thru with the best price I have found on this product !!!!

Delivery was fast, the product is a little more flimsy than expected, but for the price it’s ok. I thought each panel would be a little wider than they are. Free shipping helped. If I had paid for the shipping, it would NOT have been a good deal at all.

Lightweight but very functional – just what you need for puppies or for trips with your dogs.
